We are thrilled to announce the sixth winner of the Spokeo Connections Scholarship (view past winners)! This semester, we received more than 300 essays. After vigilant review of many exceptional submissions, one in particular stood out. Shashank Keshav Rao of Canton, MI wrote a brilliant essay examining how social media tools serve the greater public good.

Extra Activities: I love to read and write, take bike rides and long walks through nature, and I’m the grammar editor for a literary magazine on campus called the RC Review.
Future career plans: My ultimate goal is to become a novelist, but in the meantime, I plan on teaching English abroad and getting involved with organizations related to social justice and politics.
