We are elated to be announcing the FOURTH winner of the Spokeo Connections Scholarship (view past winners). The essay topics for this round of the competition ranged from using technology to keep us connected, to using open/big data to improve communities and lastly, using social media to help promote non-profit causes. We received almost 400 essays answering the range of topics, and narrowed it down to five for the reviewing committee.

Of the five finalists, Bradley Lewis impressed us with a full-fledged social media plan for a great non-profit he works with, Bike First! Bradley has volunteered with the organization over the last few summers helping children with mental and/or physical disabilities learn how to ride a bike. His essay displays how well he understands the power that social media can have to provide exposure for such a deserving group. Read his full essay [here,] and get to know a bit more about the deserving winner, and aspiring actor, below.

Get To Know Bradley:

  • Full Name: Bradley Lewis
  • Hometown: Portland, OR
  • Current School Status/College plans: Previously attended Oregon State University but will be transferring to Marymount Manhattan College (he is proud to be accepted after a lengthy audition process) as a sophomore studying theatre and musical theatre.
  • Planned College Graduation Year: 2018
  • Extra Activities: “I love to sing! Music of any sort is really my favorite. I also participate in many acting workshops around Portland. I enjoy watching films, especially if I get to watch them with friends. Every year, I volunteer for an organization called Bike First which helps kids with physical/mental disabilities learn how to ride bikes. Besides all of that, I love to just hang out with my friends and take advantage of how much Portland and New York have to offer.”
  • Future Career plans: “I plan to act professionally because there simply is nothing that makes me happier and simultaneously challenges me as much as acting does. I love theatre, and that’s where I have my roots as an actor, but I am very open to and interested by film and television. I’m excited to get to go to New York City which itself it such a huge hub for acting. Of course, I know it’s going to be tough, but what’s worth it if you don’t have to work for it?”

Congrats Bradley! We’re impressed by your writing skills and passion. We know you’ll do well and can’t wait to watch you on stage or on TV one day.
